TEXTURES
Texture is the skin of an image, giving it a sense of presence and an almost physical quality. It can be rough, grainy, smooth, fluid, dusty, or organic. In abstract art as well as cinema, it emerges through materials, traces, grain, imperfections, and layers. It can evoke a sensation without representing anything specific: the coldness of metal, moisture, dust, warmth, wear, or decay. Texture thus transforms the image into a material that feels almost tangible.
